The new 12,000-square-foot space Punk Rock Museum document U.S. punk scene of the past five decades.

Mike ‘Fat Mike’ Burkett of NOFX fame was living in Las Vegas and began conceiving of opening a storefront for punks. He enlisted the help of veteran Warped Tour producer Lisa Brownlee before pivoting from a store to a collection of memorabilia to a full-on museum

Who are the investors in the punk rock Museum?

Investors in the project include Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, skating legend Tony Hawk, ex-Germs guitarist Pat Smear and more, and the aforementioned Punk Collective comprises of dozens of musicians, historians and other eyewitnesses to punk’s “history, culture and absurdity.”

What are the roots of punk rock?

Rooted in 1960s garage rock, punk bands rejected the perceived excesses of mainstream 1970s rock music. They typically produced short, fast-paced songs with hard-edged melodies and singing styles, stripped-down instrumentation, and often shouted political, anti-establishment lyrics.

The Punk Rock Museum houses the world’s most expansive, inclusive, and intimate display of artifacts, fliers, photos, clothing, instruments, handwritten lyrics, artwork, and just about everything else donated by the people and bands who were there. Not only can you see amazing artifacts, there’s a guitar room where you can play the actual guitars and basses played through the amps the artists played them through. We have guitars and amps from Rise Against, NOFX, Pennywise, Sick of it All, Strung Out, and many more.
